Research Interests
Dr. Douglas Guiffrida is a nationally certified counselor, licensed mental health counselor in NY State, and an approved clinical supervisor. His research focuses on the experiences of Students of Color who attend predominantly white institutions. Dr. Guiffrida is also researching pedagogical methods to improve the practices used in teaching counseling theories and supervising counselors in training. He is author of the book, "Constructive Clinical Supervision in Counseling and Psychotherapy" (Routledge). He has presented his research at numerous professional conferences and has conducted workshops throughout the country on clinical supervision and improving the experiences of College Students of Color.

Teaching Interests
Douglas Guiffrida's teaching interests include counselor supervision, counseling theory, college student retention, multicultural counseling, and counseling skills and communication techniques for teachers and administrators. Selected course syllabi are available to the right.
